William Harrison "Bill" Withers, Jr. (born July 4, 1938 ) is an American musician and songwriter who composed and recorded songs from 1970 to 1985. Some of his best known songs are " Lean on Me" , "Is not No Sunshine ", " Use Me ", "Just the Two of Us" , "Lovely Day" and " Grandma's Hands".  Bill Withers began his career after serving nine years in the Navy and , despite its place as not No Sunshine Billboard number three , at first left his post as editor of the aviation industry because the world did not trust the music.
