Eric Patrick Clapton, CBE (Ripley, Surrey, England, March 30, 1945) is a guitarist, singer and composer of British rock and blues, known for his masterful skill with electric guitar, specifically with his Stratocaster. It is known by the nickname Slowhand ("Slow Hand"), from his time in The Yardbirds and that of God ("God") from his days with Cream. Clapton is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in threes: as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream and his solo career. According to many critics, Clapton was one of the artists of the culture of most respected and influential of all time masses.
Appears at number 2 of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list of Rolling Stone4 and at number 55 of their special "Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Also in 2005 Guitar World magazine included five of his songs among the best guitar solos of all time.
