"He could play anything with strings." Well defined Quint Davis, director of the Festival New Orleans Jazz and Heritage, Snooks Eaglin, who died on February 18 in this city, which never came. He suffered a heart attack and had a fighting prostate cancer year.
Fird Eaglin Jr. was born in New Orleans on January 21, 1936, and as a child, went blind because of glaucoma and the first thing he touched was a ukulele with rubber cords that gave him. He glued to the radio, then moved to guitar, he learned to play by ear. Just took his stage name, Snooks, in tribute to a radio character named Baby Snooks.
