Guy delighted the standing room only crowd with his one of a kind showmanship. Everything from his sweet vocals to the stories he told were energetic and fun. His guitar riffs wowed the crowd. You easily see why Rolling Stone ranked him 30th on their list of 100 greatest guitarist of all time.
Fans in attendance received a treat when Buddy brought his 14 year old protege Quinn Sullivan onto the stage. Quinn played a solo song and then continued to play with Buddy throughout the show. In working with Quinn you see that Buddy is passing the torch that will keep Blues alive and well for a long time.
One last treat for fans came late when Buddy asked Gary Clark Jr. to join him on stage. Clark was simply in the audience watching the show and wasn’t prepared to play. However, when Buddy Guy asks you to get on stage you have to answer the call.
It was truly a magical night that added to the Iridium’s legacy of having legendary stars perform on its stage. For those of you that were not in attendance you are in luck. The entire performance was recorded and will be aired on PBS in the near future.
