Robert Belfour at Colorado College (2011)





Robert Belfour was born in a small wooden house several miles south of Holly Springs, Mississippi in 1940. It was one of several huts on the farm obstacle alkyl his father until his death in 1953. The specific part of Mississippi where he was born Robert is called hill country in the northern part of the state. This region has a different culture than the most famous Mississippi Delta Blues and the region is strong and unique. As most other performers in the code section, RL Burnside, Fred McDowell, Joe Callicott, Jesse Mae Hemphill, Junior Kimbrough and Charlie Feathers-Robert Belfour, immersed in the rich musical heritage of the area.
The first memory of Robert is his father playing a guitar soundboard in a similar to that of Charlie Pattons style. Robert em sang gospel church led by Syd Hemphill and found free time in the company of his future neighbor partner, Junior Kimbrough. Robert was 13 years old when his father died and all his energy was put into helping her mother and younger brother. Robert used his little free time to learn guitar chords from his father.
In 1959, Robert Norman Norene married and moved to Memphis, Tennessee. A year later Robert went to work for the construction Choctaw hard concert for thirty-five years. At sixty, Guitar Belfour is mature and highly accomplished; His voice, clear and powerful sound is pure country blues. Robert left the hills of northern Mississippi forty years ago, but his music never did.
